In a culture that loves youthfulness, Bethany Care Society celebrates aging. The values of choice, quality of life, independence and community are the cornerstones of Bethany service. Bethany’s continuing care programs, housing properties and service options reflect the changing social, physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual needs of residents and clients.
As a donor to Bethany Care Foundation, you help create homelike environments that honour the independent spirit of our residents and provide special supports that enhance their care. By contributing funds for quality of life programs and services and specialized equipment, you are creating caring communities and supporting Bethany as a leading provider in continuing care.
QUALITY OF LIFE PROGRAMS
Music Therapy is proven to have a dramatic, positive impact on participants, particularly those experiencing dementia. It can shift mood, alleviate stress, promote memory recall, provide stimulation and instill a sense of calm and pure joy. Thanks to the support of donors who believe in the power of music, this program is offered to over 900 residents a year.
Spirituality and faith can be a source of comfort and fellowship for people living in continuing care. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Spirituality and Pastoral Care team at Bethany provides over 5000 multi-denominational pastoral visits a year to residents, families, staff and volunteers. The impact of our pastoral care program is felt through Bethany’s ongoing worship and spiritual counseling services, family counseling, and end of life support.
FURNISHINGS & SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
Upgraded furnishings, artwork, and entertainment systems help make Bethany home. Specialized care equipment – such as lifts, tub systems, specialized beds – make physical movement and care more comfortable, less stressful and safer for both our residents and their caregivers.
GARDENS & LANDSCAPING
Green space and gardens provide a wonderful therapeutic benefit that adds to quality of life for our residents. The new gardens at Bethany CollegeSide are a current priority.
Built in 1892, the historic 45-seat All Saints Chapel was donated to Bethany Cochrane and remains an important piece of Cochrane’s heritage. Contributing to the Chapel Fund helps Bethany preserve this iconic building by providing ongoing funds for upkeep, cleaning, furnishings, etc. The current priority is to replace the roof to ensure its long-term sustainability.
Bethany is a leading employer and innovator in the delivery of health care services for seniors and persons with disabilities. Bethany’s mission of “Creating Caring Communities” and commitment to lifelong learning has led to the funding of several scholarships to support students who have shown excellent care skills through their practicum placements and have a keen interest in a career in the long term care sector. Scholarships are available at Red Deer College and at Bow Valley College.
